Golf is back..finally

It has been a long and frustrating wait but the sound of golf balls being driven and putted on the fairways and greens of our golf clubs is back.

In accordance with the easing of restrictions by HM Government, today marks the long-awaited return to outdoor organised sport. And that includes golf.

For one of my clients, Stonebridge Golf Centre in Meriden near Coventry, the last three months has been frustrating for both staff and their members; all keen to be back at the place they love.

And you only have to look at the images on the slideshow below to see why they are missing it.

Once again I have been playing my part with planning and delivering social media content to keep members and visitors engaged with the club whilst it has been closed.  And as the weeks have gone by and got ever closer to 'reopening day', it has been clear to see the excitement and interest has only got bigger and bigger.

In keeping with all golf clubs across England, Stonebridge have adapted their procedures on and off the course to ensure compliance with current Government restrictions. Essentially it means the golfing experience is divided into five categories,

  1. Course set-up, including information on course furniture (such as flags and rakes) and practice areas.
  2. Before the round, relating to tee-time booking processes, arrival and waiting to play.
  3. During the round, in particular golfer behaviour and social distancing in different areas of the course.
  4. After the round, detailing what golfers can and/or must do following the conclusion of their round.
  5. Competitions and Rules of Golf, including the registration process, scoring and formats of play.

These latest guidelines are similar to those following last year's first lockdown, so members and visitors are already well aware of what to expect.

And adhering to them is a small price to pay for being back and swinging a golf club in great surroundings once again.
