Calling Krasnoyarsk

There are many beauties to being a freelance copywriter with the flexibility to pick and choose what you work on and when being one of them.

So when an opportunity comes up that fits right into my skill set and field of interest and specialism,  I’m not normally one to do down a project no matter how big or small it may be (unless that is I am mega-busy and booked right up – it does happen!)

Therefore it was great to receive a brief – and a pretty urgent one - for a lovely project to work on in the next few weeks.

So what is it? Well, I will be covering the Fédération Internationale du Sport Universitaire (FISU) 2019 Winter Universiade in Krasnoyarsk, Russia for Eurosport with Content Network

The FISU is the body responsible for the organisation and governance of worldwide sports competitions for student-athletes between the ages of 17 and 28.
The Winter Universiade is an international sports and cultural event that is staged every two years in a different city which draws several thousand student-athletes together, making it the largest university winter multi-sport competition in the world.

The eleven-day competition programme includes eight compulsory sports at each Winter Universiade, plus the organising committees can also include up to three optional sports from the FISU Recognised Sports and World University Championships programme to include in their edition of the Winter Universiade.

Find out more about the event here:

You will hopefully be aware that I already have a longstanding commitment to cover a variety of sports for Eurosport via Content Quality on a monthly basis (see my previous blog post here to find out more).
So this latest commitment for the next fortnight slots in nicely especially as the premise here is to review the day’s action in Russia and provide content on a daily basis all within a set deadline.

The time difference of six hours between Krasnoyarsk and the UK married against the client’s requirement to have the day’s review online by 3.00pm GMT makes for an interesting challenge but one I’m more than used to. As with most things, it’s all about the planning.

And that’s where the scope for having that flexibility for your clients and project comes in very useful.

Add to that the fact I’m now adding winter sports to my repertoire and skill set, the next few weeks and this latest Eurosport project promises to be interesting.
